ALL-NEW 2024 MERCEDES-AMG GLC 43

The all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 is a highperformance SUV that you will enjoy driving in any situation or road condition.

The AMG M139l 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with electric exhaust gas turbocharger produces an impressive 416 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, plus it has an additional boost of 13 horsepower through the belt-driven starter-generator at lower engine speeds. The engine was completely developed at the Mercedes-Benz Affalterbach AMG factory near Stuttgart and installed based on the ‘One Man, One Engine’ principle. The GLC 43 accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

The AMG Performance 4MATIC provides you permanent all-wheel drive, and the AMG Ride Control suspension with Adaptive Damping System gives you a very dynamic driving experience. Multiple other AMG-specific details reinforce the dynamic and high-quality characteristics of the new GLC 43, such as the AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical struts and the AMG front fascia with flics, sporty air intakes and chrome trim element, and the AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather. The AMG Ride Control steel spring suspension with Adaptive Damping System integrates the sporty driving dynamics with great comfort for long-distance trips. In addition, you can customize your GLC 43 with several different equipment packages. Expected to be priced from the mid$60,000s.

MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT BIKTARVY

BIKTARVY may cause serious side e ects, including: Worsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. Your healthcare provider will test you for HBV. If you have both HIV-1 and HBV, your HBV may suddenly get worse if you stop taking BIKTARVY. Do not stop taking BIKTARVY without first talking to your healthcare provider, as they will need to check your health regularly for several months, and may give you HBV medicine.

ABOUT BIKTARVY

BIKTARVY is a complete, 1-pill, once-a-day prescription medicine used to treat HIV-1 in adults and children who weigh at least 55 pounds. It can either be used in people who have never taken HIV-1 medicines before, or people who are replacing their current HIV-1 medicines and whose healthcare provider determines they meet certain requirements.

BIKTARVY does not cure HIV-1 or AIDS. HIV-1 is the virus that causes AIDS.

Do NOT take BIKTARVY if you also take a medicine that contains:

dofetilide

rifampin

any other medicines to treat HIV-1

BEFORE TAKING BIKTARVY

Tell your healthcare provider if you: Have or have had any kidney or liver problems, including hepatitis infection. Have any other health problems.

Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if BIKTARVY can harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you become pregnant while taking BIKTARVY.

Are breastfeeding (nursing) or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed. HIV-1 can be passed to the baby in breast milk.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take:

Keep a list that includes all prescription and over-thecounter medicines, antacids, laxatives, vitamins, and herbal supplements, and show it to your healthcare provider and pharmacist.

BIKTARVY and other medicines may a ect each other.

Ask your healthcare provider and pharmacist about medicines that interact with BIKTARVY, and ask if it is safe to take BIKTARVY with all your other medicines.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF BIKTARVY

BIKTARVY may cause serious side e ects, including: Those in the “Most Important Information About BIKTARVY” section.

Changes in your immune system. Your immune system may get stronger and begin to fight infections that may have been hidden in your body. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any new symptoms after you start taking BIKTARVY.

Kidney problems, including kidney failure. Your healthcare provider should do blood and urine tests to check your kidneys. If you develop new or worse kidney problems, they may tell you to stop taking BIKTARVY. Too much lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious but rare medical emergency that can lead to death. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: weakness or being more tired than usual, unusual muscle pain, being short of breath or fast breathing, stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, cold or blue hands and feet, feel dizzy or lightheaded, or a fast or abnormal heartbeat.

Severe liver problems, which in rare cases can lead to death. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, or stomach-area pain.

The most common side e ects of BIKTARVY in clinical studies were diarrhea (6%), nausea (6%), and headache (5%).

These are not all the possible side e ects of BIKTARVY. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have any new symptoms while taking BIKTARVY. Your healthcare provider will need to do tests to monitor your health before and during treatment with BIKTARVY.

As a Florida resident seeing a governor discriminating against our LGBTQ community, I find myself deeply invested in the ongoing battle for our LGBTQ rights. Our struggle is not just about obtaining legal recognition or societal acceptance. It is about securing the fundamental principles of equality and human dignity for all. The importance of safeguarding LGBTQ rights extends far beyond our community and our state because it is crucial for our nation to value diversity, compassion, and progress.

The fight for LGBTQ rights is not an abstract concept since it directly affects the lives of millions of people and their families. It is about the rights of a teenager, trembling with fear as they come out to their parents, uncertain of whether they will be embraced or rejected and kicked out of their home. It is about the rights of same-sex couples just longing for the simple joy of publicly expressing their love without fear of discrimination or violence. It is about the rights of transgender individuals seeking respect for their identity and the freedom to exist without prejudice and the threat of deadly violence. At its core, protecting LGBTQ rights is about promoting empathy and understanding. When society acknowledges and respects the rights of LGBTQ individuals, it affirms a commitment to an inclusive nation that values each person for who they are, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The importance of protecting LGBTQ rights becomes even more evident when we consider the high rates of violence and discrimination faced by LGBTQ persons. It is our collective responsibility to stand against such intolerance and create a safer world for everyone. As LGBTQ people, we are not asking for special treatment. Everyone needs to understand that our struggle is not about forcing others to accept our identity. It is about advocating for an inclusive society that embraces diversity. Only by protecting our rights as LGBTQ individuals can we truly live up to our American values of equality and justice for all.

Matt Koelen: Calgary in Alberta, Canada.

RC: What do you do for a living?

MK: I am a male entertainer and social media influencer.

RC: How do you maintain your fit physique?

MK: I make sure to stay consistent and show up every day.

RC: What are your top three exercises to stay in shape?

MK: Deadlifts, squats, and bench.

RC: What do you eat to stay fit?

MK: I eat 80% clean and 20% comfort; eggs, oatmeal, rice, chicken, bagels, protein shakes, and protein pancakes.

RC: What do you enjoy the most about modelling for photography?

MK: Building a connection with the photographer and showing my body – what I can see in my eyes through a mirror.

RC: What is the biggest dream you would like to achieve?

MK: I would love to be on TV and to work as a model and actor.

RC: What is your favorite hobby?

MK: Snowboard with my friends in the mountains.

FLAVORFUL GRAPE RECIPES TO TAKE SUMMER GATHERINGS TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Lime Vinaigrette:

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1/3 cup lime juice

2 tablespoons honey

3/4 teaspoon sea salt freshly ground pepper, to taste

Salad:

1 1/2 cups quinoa

2 cups vegetable broth

2 cups halved Grapes from California

1/2 cup minced red onion

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

2 tablespoons minced jalapeño pepper

Summertime celebrations with friends, family and neighbors are a perfect way to enjoy the sunshine, warm weather and camaraderie. To satisfy a hungry crowd, though, you’ll need recipes fit for the occasion.

Honey-Lime Quinoa and Grape Salad:

Prep time: 15 minutes, plus at least 1 hour chill time

Cook time: 22 minutes

Servings: 6 (1 1/3 cups per serving)

1 large firm, ripe avocado, peeled, pitted and cut into bite-size pieces

1/2 cup chopped peanuts (optional)

To make the lime vinaigrette: In medium bowl, whisk olive oil, lime juice, honey, sea salt and pepper, to taste. To make the salad: In fine mesh strainer, rinse quinoa; drain well. In medium saucepan, bring broth and quinoa to boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, 12 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 10 minutes, then fluff with fork and let cool. Transfer to large bowl. Pour vinaigrette over quinoa; stir well to coat. Add grapes, onion, cilantro and jalapeño pepper; cover and chill at least 1 hour. Lightly stir in avocado and transfer to decorative bowl. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired.

The salad may be prepared and refrigerated up to 2 days ahead without avocado and peanuts. Add avocado and peanuts just before serving. Nutritional information per serving: 520 calories; 10 g protein; 52 g carbohydrates; 32 g fat (55% calories from fat); 4 1/2 g saturated fat (8% calories from saturated fat); 0 mg cholesterol; 490 mg sodium; 7 g fiber.

Sweet and Tangy Pickled Grape Dogs:

Prep time: 15 minutes, plus 1 hour marinating time

Cook time: 5 minutes

Servings: 8 (1/4 cup relish per serving)

1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds

1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns

1/2 cup wine vinegar

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 1/4 cups quartered or coarsely chopped Grapes from California (red, green, black or combination)

1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion

8 turkey or chicken hot dogs

8 hot dog buns, lightly toasted

Place mustard seeds, coriander seeds and black peppercorns in small resealable bag. Using meat mallet or rolling pin, crush seeds and peppercorns. In small saucepan, stir vinegar, sugar, seeds and peppercorns; bring to boil. Remove from heat and stir to dissolve sugar; let cool. Stir in grapes and onion; set aside to cool and marinate 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Heat grill to medium heat. Grill hot dogs 5 minutes, turning occasionally, or until charred and heated through. Place hot dogs in buns. Using slotted spoon, top with pickled grapes.

Creamy Vegan Grape Ice Cream:

Prep time: 20 minutes

Cook time: 10-15 minutes

Servings: 8 (1/2 cup per serving)

1 pound stemmed black Grapes from California 12 ounces vanilla oat coffee creamer, well chilled 12 ounces unsweetened oat coffee creamer, well chilled

In high-speed blender, puree grapes until smooth. Transfer to medium saucepan and bring to simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook 10-15 minutes, or until reduced to 1 cup. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled. Stir creamer into pureed grapes and pour into bowl of ice cream maker. Freeze according to manufacturer’s directions. Transfer to freezer-safe container; cover and freeze until firm.

Substitution: For lighter color, use 3/4 pound black grapes and 1/4 pound red. Note: Make sure ice cream maker bowl is well-chilled or frozen before making ice cream.
