It was an outstanding arena production with impressive animatronics, excellent stunt work, lively pyrotechnics and cutting edge special effects. I also loved all the film-accurate, life-sized dinosaurs. Kids of all ages who appreciate an outstanding big arena production will definitely enjoy seeing Jurassic World Live when it heads to the BB&T Center January 23-26. ow that we've ushered in a new decade and slammed the door on 2019's ass, it's hard not to think about what the next 12 months will bring. Will we stick to our resolutions to lose weight, delete toxic people from our lives and become better versions of ourselves? Or have we already fallen back into old habits? Well, if you do find yourself skipping the gym for the third time this week or texting your ex again, at least you'll have some brand new music to do it to. With a new year comes a new batch of musicians just waiting to fill our ears with their fresh voices. One artist, in particular, has been shaking up the indie scene for a while now, but over the last few months has been making even bigger waves than before. His name is MAX and with a new album in the works, he's giving our ears something to look forward to in 2020. The spotlight is nothing new for this multitalented New Yorker. From modeling for D&G alongside Madonna herself, to smallscreen acting roles, to writing for other artists, MAX has dipped his toes in every pool the entertainment industry has to offer; but it seems he's found a permanent home in the music realm. In 2016, he unveiled his breakout album Hell's Kitchen Angel with resounding success thanks to the smash hit "Lights Down Low," and he's ready to do it again on his next one. "What people loved about 'Lights Down Low' was the story," he explains. "I'd never been more honest. It just clicked. I only scratched the surface on Hell's Kitchen Angel, though. I'm taking even more risks on my next album. I want to be as authentic as possible whether it is about losing people in my life or just who I am as a person."

While the new album isn't set to drop till later this year, the 27-year-old LGBTQ ally hasn't let that slow his momentum down one bit. In between tour dates and the occasional late-night talk show appearances, MAX has been keeping his fans satiated with a steady drip of singles like "Acid Dreams" featuring rapper Felly, two versions of "Love Me Less" (one with Quin XCII and another with Kim Petras) and his latest earworm, "Checklist," featuring Chromeo. The videos for each track – all of which are saturated in yellow and blue – are as bright and colorful as the songs themselves, with a little cheekiness thrown in for good measure. After seeing Jurassic World Live at AmericanAirlines Arena this past Saturday, I can personally say you are in for a treat with an incredible arena production that has impressive animatronics, excellent stunt work, lively pyrotechnics, and great special eects. Jurassic World Live features more than 24 film-accurate, life-sized dinosaurs including a Velociraptor Blue and a Tyrannosaurus Rex that are a truly jaw-dropping sight at more than 40 feet in length. Not only is each dinosaur scientifically correct, but they are also equipped with the latest technology, which provides an exhilarating, thrilling dinosaur experience. I loved seeing them!
Wire Magazine sat down with Patrick Calderon, who plays the role of Chad Barris, to preview Jurassic World Live Tour. Rafa Carvajal: Tell our readers about Jurassic World Live Tour. Patrick Calderon: Jurassic World Live Tour is a spectacular, in your face, live-action stunt show the whole family can sink their teeth into. It has life-sized dinosaurs running and flying in an original story that takes place between Jurassic World and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. We worked closely with Universal Pictures to create an authentic piece with new dinosaurs and new characters that fit right in with the Jurassic World cannon. 10 WIREMAG.COM #2 2020
RC: How was this production put together? PC: There was lots of time that went into production. The CGI models were taken directly from the Jurassic World films to create real-life, to-scale versions of all the Jurassic World fan favorites such as Velociraptor Blue. We have a full functioning Gyrosphere as well as the iconic T.Rex straight from Isla Nublar. She even has the same scars she received from the first film during the infamous I-Rex fight. RC: What is your character in Jurassic World Live Tour? PC: Although dinosaurs are the real stars of this show, the character I play is an intern named Chad Barris. Chad is a teenager who loves social media and is obsessed with the latest fads. What I love about Chad is that he brings some light-hearted humor to balance the action. RC: Why should Wire Magazine readers go see Jurassic Word Live Tour? PC: I'm pretty sure everyone has wondered once in their lives how it would be if dinosaurs lived amongst us today. This show brings that fantasy to life right in front of your eyes. RC: What is the best part of the show? PC: There are so many tech elements and epic moments in the show that picking one is near impossible. From pyrotechnics to the life-sized dinosaurs right in front of you, the entirety of the show is one great experience. RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers? SLAY IT AGAIN, SAM ARTIST SAM MORRIS SHOWS NO INHIBITION IN HIS EXHIBITION

S
am Morris is often called the modern-day Tom of Finland. Like his predecessor, Sam's work is stylized, homoerotic fetish art that depicts the quintessential gay male. However, where Tom of Finland celebrated men with extreme muscular body types, often performing aggressive sex acts, Sam's work tends to focus on the handsome but relatable 'boy next door' gay man. "I aim to create an aesthetic that is romantic, yet sexy," he explains. "My work invites the viewer to fantasize over the man they have a crush on at work, or maybe the one that works at the local coffee shop or the DILF they are secretly following on social media."
We caught up with the Berlin-based artist when he was in Miami last month, exhibiting his work at Art Gaysel. Connor Davenport: How would you define your unique take on gay eroticism? Sam Morris: I use lots of different art mediums to explore the male form. At Art Gaysel, I showed some of my photographic prints, film work, paintings and sculptures. It was a pretty confronting exhibit with many different expressions of the body and sexuality. CD: What would you say is the most beautiful part of a man's body? SM: The penis. It's where we place a lot of our power, shame, motivation, emotion, sexuality. It's the hidden facet of each of us that we're all dying to reveal. CD: How has technology, social media, and the hookup culture impacted your work? SM: I'm a child of the internet, for sure. Social media has helped me connect my work with others. CD: How do you keep your followers engaged? SM: I work very hard on producing the work that I do and I'm constantly sharing different parts of my work. I'm lucky that people want to see it. CD: Who are the men featured in your images? SM: I shoot guys from all over the world.

CD: How do you find them? SM: I normally wait for them to get in touch with me via my socials, and then I see what they would like to explore on camera. CD: You did a little exploration of your own in New York last month, performing a poetry reading at Club Cumming. SM: Yes, I opened with a piece by John Cage, 4.33, in which I got completely naked in silence. I then read a couple of poems, followed by a twenty-minute talk on censorship and erotica. My being naked wasn't a stunt… it was important to the message behind the essay.

CD: Have you always felt so comfortable in your own skin? SM: No, it took a long time to get where I am today. CD: What is one part of your body that you wish you could change? SM: That when I was a child, I was in the final castings alongside Daniel Radcliffe to play Harry Potter. CD: That's incredible! What new projects are you working on for 2020? Peyton Elvy: I'm originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota and currently live in Fort Lauderdale. RC: Describe yourself in three words. PE: A walking temple. RC: What do you do for a living? PE: I am young, but work on the beach providing excellent hospitality. RC: Who is the professional icon that inspires you most, and why? PE: I wouldn't say anyone in specific. I just have one or three friends that have the same goals as me that motivate me every day. They help me maintain a strong mentality.

RC: How do you stay in such great shape? PE: I work out at least five days a week, and if I can not make it to the gym, I am home doing bodyweight workouts. Also, a very strict diet plan. A homosexual love story will be the starting point to touch on various topics of interest for young people and adults-contemporaries: selfacceptance, prejudices, the complications of living in an insecure society, the low level of education, the concern to achieve economic and labor success, among others. This story involves the public in an atmosphere of constant confrontation with themselves and their surroundings. Universal themes such as self-esteem, value, prejudices, society and its stereotypes and everything that involves a saturated city intermingle in the scene.

RC: What do you think our readers will enjoy the most about the play? WM: It's an amazing work of direction, acting, and a memorable play. The performance of the three
of us will make the viewers feel like they are inside the apartment where the play takes place. At the same time, they will make them travel to their rooms and remember those first sexual encounters, the rejection of the family, the fear of the unknown and the encounter of the first love. RC: I know this is a very sexy play. Care to tell our readers a little bit about that? WM: All the play is loaded with sexuality and eroticism in each of the words and actions, to the point where we represent the first sexual encounters of the characters in this story. RC: Which character do you play? Tell us about him. WM: I play Martin, of the three, he's the least intense, but the one with the highest self-esteem. He's smart and fun, and the only one who knows the meaning of being a pretty boy. The only one who knows the secrets that this great city hides and the dangers of the concrete jungle. RC: Describe Ni単os Lindos in 3 words. WM: Intense, sexy and unexpected. RC: Why should Wire Magazine readers go see Ni単os Lindos? WM: Supporting each other within the LGBTQ community will make it much easier to continue breaking the paradigms and stereotypes. In addition, culture and theater in Miami need all our support, and why not, this play also showcases very handsome men both on the scene and in the public. It is rather a complex love story, marked by abandonment and the impossibility of being with a loved one and the limits that can drive an obsession.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX THE RISE OF SKYWALKER
O
n May 25, 1977, I was at the very first showing of Star Wars and it propelled me into another universe, one I had only experienced by reading science-fiction novels. That first jump to light speed took the breath away from me and the six or seven other people in the audience, at noon, on a workday, in downtown Chicago. From that moment of the visual collision, I was forever locked into what has become the Star Wars saga. You could say I pretty much grew up watching the film franchise as it evolved through now nine films. On December 17, 2019, I was in the audience of a packed theater at an advanced screening of the final episode of the Star Wars saga, at 3 p.m., on a workday, in downtown Miami. I expected to be blown away once again, taken to new heights of sci-fi ecstasy, as this 42-yearold odyssey came to a stunning conclusion, but to my utter dismay, I wasn't. The saga, which should have gone out as it arrived, with a big bang, instead went out with a small whimper.

That's not to say the movie is bad, which it certainly is not, but the makers of this conclusion, namely director J.J. Abrams and writer Chris Terrio, owed the millions and millions of fans a much better ending than this repetitious, convoluted, and ultimately unsatisfying one. I mean, they could have easily gone to the source of the films, science fiction writing, as I'm sure George Lucas originally did and found a better way to wrap up all the bones. Here's the storyline… and I'm not going to give the ending away so feel free to read on.
Recovering from their wounds a year after the events of The Last Jedi, the resistance is once again forced to face off against the first order. Only this time the first order is backed by the full and unrelenting power of the sith, who have their own plan for galactic dominance. Our heroes, Princess Leia, Rey, Finn, and Poe are all still facing their greatest fears, themselves, and trying desperately to overcome the insurmountable odds against them in order to survive and lead the resistance to some kind of victory. Not to be left out of the mix, Kylo Ren is still trying to win Rey over to his dark side, as he hunts down any and all threats to his newly acquired power. The problems with the film are not minor. The whole beginning is way too choppy and confusing. It's not until almost the middle of the film that the story really gets down to business. Add to that the fact that Abrams just threw out almost all of the set-up from The Last Jedi and created an absurd new direction you'll have to accept and come to terms with to be able to enjoy the film. The best of the films adhere to Lucas' method of storytelling, the slow and steady growth of situation, relationship, and peril. You can't just rush headlong into a slapdash ending, cramming everything you can into a two and a half hour conclusion. It just isn't what Star Wars is all about or what made the saga so much fun to watch. It would have been better to divide the last episode into two parts and tell the story right, instead of leaving us with some pat ending to a brilliant series of films that we will forever have to accept. Bad Robot. My take… Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker is a flawed film, yet it's a Star Wars movie and any time spent in that universe is time well spent. By all means, see it! Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker Rating: 3 1/2 stars (out of 5) Rated: PG-13 (for sci-fi violence and action)
